I hear it all the time from working class people who are recently homeless – “I am not your typical homeless person,” they say.  Actually, they probably are. I wrote a short piece playing out a scenario I see all the time. It is why I believe  becoming homeless is a process. I also see nine ways the church could have prevented it – see if you can find the five easy ones.

If the whole battle by my more conservative brothers and sisters isn’t against gays, per se, but is really all about the protection of marriage, I have no idea why they are not hopping on the movement under way in California to ban divorce. After all, while the Bible never says that God hates gays (sorry, Fred Phelps), it quite clearly states where the Almighty stands on divorce.
